When
you look at your desk, what do you see? Piles of paper? Half filled
cups of coffee? The truth is, your desk can say a lot about you. It’s
only natural that you’re given an empty desk on your first day at work.
Within time, you may start to realize that your desk looks quite
different compared to when you first started your job. So what does your
desk really say about you today?
THE GHOST
Your desk shows no signs of life. No pens, no décor, barely any sign of papers; it technically looks like you haven’t been to work in a couple of days. Your desk seems to indicate that you’re a ghost and you like to do the minimum. You might be known for taking your time in submitting assignments, or staying silent during meetings. In light of being a Ghost, you don’t like to attract much attention to yourself. As a result, you might prefer to keep your opinions to yourself rather than voice them with your fellow colleagues or boss.
THE COLLECTOR
Your desk is covered in mountains of papers with stacks of forgotten notes and notepads. Your drawers are full, and you basically have everything you might ever need on your desk such as: half-filled coffee mugs or something like an old gift you’ve received a few years ago from a colleague. If you’re a Collector then you’re the kind of employee who loves to contribute in the office. From volunteering to help your co-workers to sharing whatever ideas you have in meetings. Your belongings may also be found all over the office, such as forgotten food that you have left in the fridge for days.
THE INDIVIDUALIZER
Your desk resembles an album. You like to have family photos on your desk, or souvenirs you’ve bought from your latest trip. You proudly like to display all tokens that are personal to you. You are an extrovert. You aren’t afraid of giving people a sneak peek into your personal life. You are an open person, and you enjoy socializing with your co-workers in the office. You like creativity and you like to show that in the tasks you are given. Your work has a personalized twist to it, which in return makes your work a token to your identity.
THE FOODIE
The name really says it all. You wouldn’t need to leave your desk to get food because you already have all the food you can think of right at your fingertips. The Foodie might keep a stash of chocolate bars in the drawer, or a bag of open crisps on the desk. The Foodie is basically the person you go to when you want something to eat. If you’re The Foodie in the office, then you love giving. You wouldn’t mind offering your co-workers some extra snacks you’ve brought with you to work, or a box of flavored chocolate bites.
THE NEAT FREAK
Your desk is flawless. Everything is in place. Your notes are properly stacked. Your drawers are organized by content. Your pens and pencils are not scattered on the desk. If you are The Neat Freak, then you are a reliable employee. You like to stay up-to-date with your tasks; you even enjoy marking things off your to-do-list. Your assignments are error-free and submitted right on time. Your co-workers would depend on you if they need help, especially when it comes to a task they can’t seem to complete on their own.
